ALBUM REVIEW: BLINK-182 | NEIGHBORHOODS

Blink-182′s post break up album ‘Neighborhoods’ may read dysfunctional as synth and punk-rock guitars are combined under hip-hop influenced percussions. Yet this combination, as conflicting as it may seem leads to a compilation of the finest work this band has achieved in its long career including that of its related side projects. The west-coast trio have replicated some of their earlier sounds, while successfully pulling together elements from each of their individual side projects elsewhere to produce a much darker sounding, and lyrically maturer record to the likes of ‘Enema of the State’ and ‘Take Off Your Pants And Jacket’

Criminals visiting the Fore Street store, called Boombox, during the year-long operation were encouraged to use a private back room where they were caught on hidden cameras and microphones selling guns, drugs and stolen goods to officers posing as crooks.

PREVIEW: BLINK-182 ALBUM FIRST LISTEN SONG BY SONG

Given that ‘Neighborhoods’ has been a full eight years in the making, with a split and reformation in the middle of all that, Blink-182’s worry that their long awaited seventh album will find its way onto the internet early is probably pretty justified. Hence, earlier today, when it was played to a room full of journalists for the first time, it was in the soundproofed surroundings of their UK label’s office. There were sandwiches though, which was nice.
